SOUTH ESSEX:- CANVEY & THURROCK Apologies to the good folk of this region for lumping these two places together like this, but as more than one correspondent has put it, this is lager country with only a few beacons of cask to lighten the gloom of fizz. What a contrast to North Essex which has some fine beer and pubs! CANVEY: The quest for good beer on Canvey is inversely proportional to the recent success of the team:- there's really nothing here that can be recommended with any enthusiasm.
