SLOUGH

It didnt do much for John Betjeman, but despite its reputation there are a few decent boozers to keep the drinker occupied before and after kick off here in Slough. The ground is out on the Wexham Rd north of the station whilst the recommendations below are to the south. See the detailed map (click below) for the relevant streets.
The WHEATSHEAF* is a Good Beer Guide regular, a Fullers' pub with a reputation for pies as well as a pretty full range of the beers. Its at 15 Albert St.
In the High Street, the ROSE & CROWN at No. 312 is a genuine Free House with a changing beer list (at least two on at any time), although no lunchtime food.
If you are hankering after the corporate feeling, try the Wetherspoon's (MOON & SPOON) at 86 High St, opposite the library, with usual beers and reliable food.
If you are coming by car, you could try Colnbrook, a few miles east and close to Jct 5 on the M4, where in the High St both the OSTRICH*(Courage) and the OLDE GEORGE*(Ushers) are GBG listed. Finally, the GEORGE* in Burnham High street, a few miles west, is worth a look if coming from Hampshire. Beers from Courage and Vale Notley, the place has a long serving family in charge.
