HENDON
This sadly will be one
of the shortest entries on the site: Hendon's ground lies in one
of the dreariest areas of London for the cask ale drinker, in
a district some way from the nearest local centre at Cricklewood.
Hendon itself is a good long way off, over a mile to the north.
Coming by train to Cricklewood (Thameslink), the BEATEN DOCKET*,
a Weatherspoons house at 50-56 Cricklewood Broadway is a welcome
oasis (turn right out the station, then left onto the Broadway
at the lights).Food is available in common with all Wetherspoons',but
there are also plenty of good restaurants nearby for a good nosebag.
Apart from this, there is nothing to recommend near the ground.
Perhaps the most attractive option is by Northern Line or bus
to Hampstead a couple of miles south east, where things
are a lot more promising: the FLASK (Flask walk, Young's); the
DUKE OF HAMILTON* (New End, Fuller's); and the HOLLY BUSH (Holly
Mount, Benskins) are all close to the centre. One could then continue
by Northern Line to Brent (then a 15 min walk).
Any further suggestions
from Hendon fans very welcome!
